We had a great turnout for the AACSC’s annual Caribbean-American Heritage Celebration which waseritage Celeb- held via Zoom on July 26, 2021.  The theme for the celebration was “Our Shared History, Our Shared Future”. The program was both informative and entertaining.  Members were treated to a “Parade of Caribbean Nations” where members dressed in traditional Caribbean attire and presented flags representing their respective native Caribbean islands. Also presented were videos which provided a historical overview of both dependent and independent Caribbean territories presented by members Carl Wilkinson and Gisel Regis. Members also participated in Caribbean subject-matter brainteasers facilitated by member Wis LaBrousse. There was also a video featuring 60 Influential Caribbean-Americans. Expressions of appreciation to the Celebration Team Members who worked so hard to make the program a success. Thanks  to Mistress of Ceremony Joyce Kennedy and Team Members Juldette Montima, Gerry Streete, Carl Wilkinson, Wis LaBrousse, Gisel Regis and Pam Streete.  In recognition of Juneteenth which was signed into law as a federal national holiday on June 17, 2021 by President Biden, Terri Parrott presented a historical overview of Juneteenth, discussed the Juneteenth Flag and its symbolic importance, and referenced statistical data regarding the percentages of Americans who had knowledge of Juneteenth, supported making Juneteenth a federal holiday and supported adding Juneteenth to public school curriculums.
